Cochin (Kochi)
Kochi – “The Queen of Arabian Sea” is the major port city lying in the midst of Arabian Sea and Western Ghats. It was the prime centre of Indian spice trade for many centuries. The Arabs, Chinese, British, Portuguese and Dutch have left remarkable marks on the development of Kochi. Being a seaside city, Kochi is known as the industrial and commercial capital of Kerala. Kochi harbour is one of the safe harbours on Indian ocean. Chinese fishing nets of Fort Kochi is a unique way of fishing. These nets are of 10 meters height and spreads about 20 meters over the water body. The exquisite beaches, backwaters and boating truly makes Kochi a main tourist destination.
